Department Overview

The Teaneck Police Department’s table of organization authorized strength consists of 97 sworn officers, supported by 9 Public Safety Telecommunicators, 7 civilian support staff, 3 full-time Parking Enforcement Officer, and 12 dedicated Auxiliary Police volunteers. The department is organized into various bureaus and specialized units, including Patrol, Traffic, Community Policing, Investigations, Narcotics, Burglary, Warrants, Juvenile, Training, Accreditation, Identification, Computers, and Records.

Our officers actively participate in regional efforts, serving as members of the SWAT team, the County-Wide Rapid Deployment Force, and federal task forces alongside agencies such as the DEA and HSI. In 2023, the department responded to 49,558 calls for service, demonstrating our commitment to the safety and well-being of Teaneck's diverse community of 42,000 residents.

The Teaneck Police Department is proud to be accredited by the New Jersey State Association of Chiefs of Police, reflecting our adherence to the highest standards of law enforcement.

It is the mission of the Teaneck Police Department to safeguard the lives and property of the people we
serve, to reduce the incidence and fear of crime and to enhance public safety while working with diverse
communities to improve their quality of life. We will do so with honor and integrity, while at all times
conducting ourselves with the highest ethical standards to maintain public confidence.

About the Community We Serve

Teaneck is home to a vibrant and diverse population of 42,000 residents. The community is served by 16 schools, including 6 high schools that reflect the town's cultural diversity: 3 Jewish high schools, a community high school, an Islamic school, and a public high school.

Teaneck is also home to several significant institutions, including Fairleigh Dickinson University, the largest private university in New Jersey, Holy Name Medical Center, and the Teaneck Armory (home of the 50th Support Battalion). The town boasts over 40 houses of worship, 23 parks, and three major highways, including Interstate 95, Interstate 80, and Route 4.
