Deputy Chief Seth Kriegel

Deputy Chief Seth Kriegel is a proud third-generation resident of Teaneck and a graduate of the Teaneck school system, having attended from kindergarten through 12th grade. With over two decades of law enforcement experience and a deep connection to the community, Deputy Chief Kriegel is dedicated to maintaining the highest standards of public safety. In his current role, he oversees the day-to-day operations of the department, supervising 93 sworn officers and 18 civilian staff members, while also serving as the Officer in Charge in the Chief’s absence. His leadership is rooted in a steadfast commitment to the safety and well-being of the community.

Before assuming his current position, Deputy Chief Kriegel served as the Captain of the Investigations Division, where he led criminal investigations, supervised the Professional Standards Unit, and acted as the department’s Public Information Officer. He was instrumental in ensuring compliance with Attorney General guidelines, overseeing background investigations, and maintaining the integrity of the department’s internal affairs processes.

Throughout his career at the Teaneck Police Department, Deputy Chief Kriegel has held several key positions, including Detective Lieutenant – Juvenile Bureau Commander, where he managed juvenile and bias-related investigations; Lieutenant – Patrol Division, where he served as the Tour Commander and oversaw daily patrol operations; and Detective Sergeant – Detective Bureau, where he led a team of detectives conducting a variety of investigations.  

A graduate of the esteemed New Jersey State Association of Chiefs of Police Command & Leadership Academy, Deputy Chief Kriegel has further refined his leadership skills. He holds a Master of Administrative Science degree from Fairleigh Dickinson University, graduating summa cum laude, and a Bachelor of Science in Behavioral Science/Criminal Justice from York College of Pennsylvania, also summa cum laude.

Deputy Chief Kriegel is a respected law enforcement leader who has earned numerous awards and commendations. With his deep roots in Teaneck and a lifelong commitment to the community, Deputy Chief Kriegel continues to lead with integrity, professionalism, and a focus on enhancing public safety and fostering positive police-community relations in Teaneck.
