Summer ‘25 Exploring Careers in Aging Internship for H.S. Juniors, Seniors 

To Focus on Wide Range of Elder Care Career Opportunities

Stipend $1,500 for Four Teaneck Students Offered

TEANECK. NJ— As a way to educate and encourage students to consider elder care and related professions as career paths, Age Friendly Teaneck will sponsor a four-week Exploring Careers in Aging Internship for four outstanding and motivated high school juniors or seniors in Summer 2025.

Each student will receive a $1,500 stipend, thanks to a grant from a small family foundation.

This is the sixth summer that Age-Friendly Teaneck, in partnership with other local elder-care providers, is offering this experiential learning opportunity. Previous interns have lauded the program not only for helping them think about future career possibilities but also for giving them great opportunities for understanding and communicating with elders – skills that will be critical for elder care in future years. 

The program, which starts on July 7, is open to rising high school juniors and seniors who reside in Teaneck and attend schools in the area. The deadline to apply is April 11.  

The 2025 internship will again combine a dynamic curriculum, real-world experience and one-on-one connections with professionals in the fields of geriatric-related social work, geriatric wellness, technology, home care, recreation, food service, housing, elder law, design and construction and business management. Interns will be supervised by a team of seasoned and knowledgeable professionals from The Bright Side Family.

Age Friendly Teaneck is a community-wide project whose mission is to ensure that residents of Teaneck can age-in-place in their homes and community with dignity and independence. The Bright Side Family, a non-profit provider of housing and social services for older adults in Teaneck since 1990, coordinates this initiative.
