The Township of Teaneck Appoints Anthony J. Verley as

Deputy Township Manager

The Township of Teaneck is pleased to announce the appointment of Anthony Verley as our new Deputy Township Manager. Chief Anthony Verley started with Teaneck as a firefighter in 1987, retiring as Chief of the Department in 2018.  He served in many positions in the Fire Department as he rose up the ranks including Company Officer, Training Officer, Shift Commander and Administrative Officer.  Anthony was promoted to Fire Lieutenant in 1995, Fire Captain in 2003, Deputy Fire Chief in 2006 and Chief in 2010.  He served as the department’s Grants Officer, writing grants for a new Ladder Truck, Thermal Imaging cameras, Gas Detectors and Fire Station Generators.  In addition, Verley oversaw the renovation of the fire departments Communications Center and the departments 100th Anniversary Celebration in 2015.

Verley is a member of the NJ Career Fire Chiefs Association and is in his 42nd year of service with the Teaneck Volunteer Ambulance Corps.  He was a past member of the Bergen Community College Fire Science Advisory Board and received the Jewish Center of Teaneck inaugural Dr. Martin Luther King JR Content of Character Service Award in 2022.  He has a Bachelor’s Degree in Economics from City College of NY.

Chief Verley resides in Bergen County with his wife and two children.
