SUPERINTENDENT OF RECREATION Full Time
The Township of Teaneck is accepting applications for a full time Superintendent of Recreation. Under direction, plans, promotes, organizes and administers a comprehensive recreation service for the community. Studies community recreation needs and develops immediate and long-range plans to meet these needs. Establishes and maintains cooperative planning and working relationships with other local community agencies and interested individuals. Organizes, trains, and supervises subordinates, and provides them with needed advice and assistance. Prepares budget estimates and maintains records of expenditures. Directs the acquisition, design, construction, and operation of recreation facilities, and arranges for their maintenance and operation. Prepares reports and correspondence. Requirement: Seven (7) years of professional experience in recreation work involving planning, promoting, organizing, and/or directing a comprehensive recreation service or program for a community, four (4) years of which must have been in a supervisory capacity or Possession of a bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university; and four (4) years of the above-mentioned professional experience which must have been in a supervisory capacity.Valid CPRP Certificaton Preferred. DEPUTY REGISTRAR OF VITAL STATISTICS Full Time
Under direction, assists the Registrar of Vital Statistics by keeping records of births, marriages, deaths, and communicable diseases in the municipality. Candidate may be required to process transactions and collect fees as needed. May respond to inquiries and process clerical transactions for other functions of the Health Department; does related work as required. Maintain detailed records and files, and produce/review reports as requested by the Registrar. Applicants must possess two (2) years of clerical experience. Ideal candidate is extremely organized and detail-oriented. Certified Municipal Registrar (CMR) certificate issued by the Department of Health and Senior Services is required. Salary D.O.Q.
ASSISTANT ZONING OFFICER Full Time (Building Dept.)
Under the direction of the Zoning Officer, examines the working plans of proposed buildings for their compliance with state, county, and local zoning laws, ordinances, rules and regulations. Consults with architects/owners on compliance problems. Must have the ability to conduct field inspections to ensure compliance with zoning regulations/rules and initiates enforcement actions against violators. Two years’ experience in the preparation and revision of building construction plans and specs or in the full time inspection and enforcement of zoning and/or building construction laws and regulations. Appointee will be required to possess a valid NJ Driver’s License. Salary D.O.Q.
LABORER Full Time (DPW)
Department of Public Works (DPW) is seeking a dedicated and hardworking individual for the position of Laborer. This position offers an excellent opportunity to contribute to the maintenance and improvement of our community's infrastructure. Key Responsibilities: Perform manual labor tasks related to the maintenance of streets, parks, public buildings, and other public properties. Operate light and heavy equipment, including trucks, snow plows, and other machinery (Class B CDL required). Assist with trash, recycling, and yard waste collection. Participate in street repairs, asphalt patching, and other roadway maintenance tasks. Assist with seasonal work such as snow removal, leaf collection, and storm drain cleaning. Maintain and repair public works equipment and vehicles as needed. Work effectively as part of a team and communicate with supervisors and fellow employees. Requirements: High school diploma or equivalent. Valid Class B Commercial Driver's License (CDL) is required. Tree climbing and masonry experience are preferred. Ability to perform physically demanding tasks in various weather conditions. Strong work ethic and attention to detail. Ability to work independently and follow instructions. Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and during emergencies (e.g., snowstorms).
